Collection: Maria Levinge

Maria Levinge is an Irish landscape painter from Co. Waterford. She is a primarily a self taught artist, but she was also tutored by her brother, the well known artist Niccolo d'Ardia Caracciolo, RHA. She has held numerous successful solo exhibitions throughout her career as an artist, exhibiting at Newtownbarry House in Bunclody, Co. Wexford and more recently at the Ranelagh Arts Centre in Dublin. She first began exhibiting her work at the Jorgensen Gallery in the early 2000's and her small scale intimate plein-air Irish landscapes have always found an enthusiastic audience at the gallery.

Her paintings have also been selected for the annual Royal Hibernian Academy exhibition in Dublin, Ireland's largest exhibition of contemporary art, and she was an invited artist for this exhibition in 2007 and in 2008. The paintings that we currently have on exhibition at the gallery are from a recent residency that she undertook at the Tyrone Guthrie Arts Centre in Annaghmakerrig, Co. Monaghan, where the lake and the ever changing landscape of the surrounding hills are a constant source of inspiration for her paintings.

Her work is housed in many public and private collections, in Ireland including the Axa Insurance Art Collection, the Office of Public Works Collection & the Newtownbarry House Collection, amongst others. Her work is also housed in many private collections in Ireland, the United States, Canada, France, the United Kingdom and Italy.
